Verenium provides novel products to address a variety of animal care needs. Our products, Phyzyme™-XP enzyme, in partnership with Dansico, and Quantum™ phytase, in partnership with Syngenta, improve the nutritional value of feed for poultry and swine while reducing phosphate pollution. In conjunction with Bayer Animal Health, we have launched Bayovac® SRS, a vaccine designed to treat an infectious disease in farmed salmon.
The worldwide sales of therapeutic proteins, such as antibodies, are projected to approach $24 billion by 2010, making it the fastest growing segment in the pharmaceutical industry. Verenium is utilizing our industry-leading MedEv™ technology to partner with key companies to produce optimized therapeutic antibodies to improve the treatment of a variety of diseases. Our internal programs to develop better antibodies to treat SARS, Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma (CD20) and graft-versus-host disease (CD3) have validated our MedEv™ approach and we continue to seek partners such as Merck, MEDAREX and XOMA who can take advantage of our protein optimization technologies.
