Verenium, using our proprietary MedEv™ platform, has engineered an anti-CD3 (OKT3) antibody for increased efficacy in transplantation and autoimmune disorders. The goal of our program was to reduce immunogenicity and other deleterious side-effects associated with the administration of the mouse derived, OKT3. The optimization process included the optimization of the antibody through our proprietary Human Framework Reassembly technology and engineering of the antibody’s Fc domain.
Verenium believes a superior monoclonal antibody directed against CD3 could expand the market beyond the $40 million spent for OKT-3 and $400 million spent for IL2 antagonists used as immunosuppressants.
Multiple preclinical leads have been discovered for this product and Verenium is actively seeking outlicensing partners for this program.
